Welcome to ASCEND. ASCEND is an AI-powered personal growth and gamification platform designed to help you level up your real life — setting goals, tracking progress, completing daily missions, and visualising your Future Self.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. By using ASCEND you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account we collect your email address, a hashed (never plain-text) password, and your chosen display name.
Profile Data
We store the goals you set, your self-reported current state, vision and Future Self inputs, and the answers you provide during onboarding. This data powers your personalised experience.
Usage Data
We record your in-app activity to track your progress: missions completed, XP earned, streak counts, daily check-ins, and session activity.
Analytics Data
We collect anonymised product analytics via PostHog, including page views, CTA clicks, and funnel events. This data is used to improve the product and is anonymised where possible.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use session cookies to keep you authenticated and local storage to preserve your preferences between sessions. We do not use advertising cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the ASCEND service
- Personalise your AI coaching recommendations and mission generation
- Calculate Future Self predictions and progress tracking metrics
- Send transactional emails such as account confirmations and password resets
- Analyse usage patterns and improve the product experience
We do not sell your personal data to third parties — ever.
4. Cookies and Tracking
Session cookies — used solely for authentication. These expire when your session ends or after a fixed timeout.
PostHog analytics — anonymised event tracking to understand how users interact with the product. PostHog is configured to anonymise data wherever possible.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any third-party ad tracking technologies.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only with the following trusted service providers, and only as necessary to operate ASCEND:
- Convex — our database and backend infrastructure provider
- PostHog — product analytics
- Stripe — payment processing (only if you purchase a Premium subscription)
We do not share your personal data with any other third parties without your explicit consent.
6. Data Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days of your deletion request.
Some anonymised or aggregated data may be retained for longer periods to improve the product, but this data cannot be linked back to you.
7. Your Rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by emailing team@ascend.madethis.app.
EU / UK users (GDPR) — you have the right to access your data, receive a portable copy, request erasure, restrict processing, and object to processing.
California users (CCPA) — you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information).
8. Children's Privacy
ASCEND is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at team@ascend.madethis.app and we will take steps to remove that information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or through an in-app notice. Your continued use of ASCEND after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
